Opposition leader rejects election results in Zimbabwe

The Zimbabwe opposition presidential candidate and leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party, Nelson Chamisa is calling for fresh presidential elections after what international observers unanimously called a sham election. On August 23, 2023, Zimbabwe held harmonised presidential elections that were marred by untold irregularities. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission declared incumbent candidate and president Emerson D. Mnangagwa as winner with 52.6% of the total votes cast. Secrets Known called it a zombie election, recognizable only in form but devoid of any substance. Chamisa is calling the August 23, 2023 elections fraud and illegal. He accuses President Mnangagwa of perpetuating a coup d’Etat over the ballot.
