CAREER OPPORTUNITY: FINANCE OFFICER

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and detail-oriented Finance Officer. He/she will be responsible for maintaining financial stability of projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and donor requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance. He/she will work under the supervision of Head of Finance and Administration. If you are a dedicated finance professional that can make a difference, this is an excellent challenge for you.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement financial policies, procedures and controls to maintain the integrity of financial transactions and reporting.
- Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll and general ledger activities.
- Preparing accurate and timely periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) financial reports for management and organisational donors.
- Monitor budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and highlighting variances.
- Work closely with the programs team to develop project budgets and provide financial support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance to regulatory and legal requirements including tax filings and reporting obligations.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision making. You should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.
- Assist in managing the organisation’s procurement and disposal processes.
- Any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance and Administration.
Qualifications and Experience
- A reputable Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Commerce or other business-related qualification with a bias in accounting, is essential.
- Accounting professional certification such as CPA (at least level 1) will be an added advantage.
- At least five (05) years’ professional experience three of which must be at similar position with a
- reputable organization.
Requisite Knowledge and Skills
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, practices and procedures including accounting standards and regulations and knowledge of donor funded projects.
- Proven ability to work effectively with others to achieve results.
- Build Relationships – ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
- Knowledge of accounting software particularly QuickBooks and Excel, is a MUST.
- Grants management experience may be added advantage.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work and meet deadlines in a high pressure fast-paced environment.
- Personal qualities of integrity, honesty, credibility and dedication to the mission of ACFIM.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
