ACFIM Annual Report – 2021
The year 2021 was unprecedented in the history of Alliance for Finance Monitoring, a year that put our resilience to the test. It started with the general elections of 2021 conducted under covid-19 restrictions where on Election Day, police arrested over 26 volunteers and civil society leaders, detaining them for 3 days.
The year witnessed the longest Covid-19 national lockdown extended for almost four months, occasioned by the second wave of the pandemic that engulfed almost the entire country with several hospitalizations and losses of family members. ACFIM staff members too were not spared by the pandemic with some ending in hospitalization.
In the same vein, ACFIM’s biggest development partner – the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) – remained suspended for the entire year, thus, stalling a number of planned activities which had hitherto been earmarked for DGF funding. But we are still here and will continue to pursue the vision and mission of the founders of ACFIM.
